What is Ho’oponopono?
Sounds Interesting? Hoʻoponopono is a Hawaiian practice of reuniting, harmonizing, and forgiving, Forgiving whom? – OURSELVES. Yes, you heard right. It’s a technique by the therapist and teacher, Ihaleakala Hew Len. The word “ho’o” means “cause” in Hawaiian, while “ponopono” means “perfection”. The term “ho’oponopono” can be translated as “correct a mistake” or “make it right”. It is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.

It is a practice that does not require much teaching and you can do by yourself. It is powerful for purifying one’s body and getting rid of bad memories or feelings that hold the mind in a negative way/ tone! Yes, it does help.
The only thing here you have to take care off is that you have to keep all your Grudges, Anger towards any person, or any negative vibe away from you and just enjoy this magical meditation because then only you will be able to feel the difference and receive something from this meditation.
Getting started
During Meditation there are four steps involved in this practice make you realize the fact that you are responsible for everything that happens to you and that is in your mind. Once the practitioner can realize this fact it becomes easy for you to start practising the steps.
- The first step asks you to say sorry for everything that has happened to you and whatever you have witnessed. It makes it easy for you to move on in your life once you got the courage to say sorry for anything wrong and you will feel better.
- Once you can say sorry the second step requires you to ask for forgiveness. You will be seeking forgiveness for everything you felt sorry for in the first step. Forgive everyone from your past whoever the person maybe. REMEMBER no grudges!
- The third step is showing your gratitude for everything that has happened to your life. You say Thankyou for yourself. This way you will learn to appreciate everything big or small in your life.
- The last step is to show your love to yourself and say I love you to everything that is yours. This way you will learn to love everything related to you. This may sound weird for many of us but once you mean what you say the process is magical trust me.
When to do it?
Hoʻoponopono can be done anytime in the day, but night is most preferred. Before you go to bed you can do this magical meditation and Voila! See the results. You can watch or rather hear this beautiful video before going to bed. This will soothe your mind.
Just spending 15-20 mins and doing this practice everyday will :
- Reset your mind for next day in a positive way.
- Cut off all your bad vibrations.
- Brings on Positive Vibrations.
- Helps you forget all the bad memories associated with you and move forward with the forgiveness.
